The Swords of Eönwë

About Our Kinship

Welcome to the Swords of Eönwë!

We are a Kinship (also known as a Clan or Guild) that play a game called The Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO). We play on the Echoes of Angmar server.

We focus on relaxed questing and min/maxing our characters to support each other. Eventually we will start looking into tackling some end-game content once we have a sufficient interest from within the Kinship.

Swords of Eönwë Standards

All members are expected to uphold the following standards at all times when officially representing the Swords of Eönwë.

A member is officially representing the Kinship any time someone can link their words or actions to the Kinship. Meaning any publicly viewable chat channel in-game, or any website, discussion board, forum, sub-Reddit, etc…

  • Members will be professional at all times.
  • Members will do their best to accommodate direct requests for assistance.
  • If a member doesn’t know the answer, they will refrain from offering assumptions or other misleading information.

If you’re interested in joining us, please head on over to our recruitment page to see if we’re currently recruiting.

What is Eönwë?

Eönwë was a Maia serving Manwë as his herald and banner-bearer, and Chief of the Maiar along with Ilmarë.

The Maiar are lesser Ainur, or spirits that existed before the creation of the world. Other notable Maiar are the Wizards, Gandalf, Radagast, and Saruman.

Eönwë was referred to as the “greatest of arms in Arda,” meaning that he was the best with weapons, but as one of the Maiar he was not necessarily the most powerful in might.

So essentially Eönwë was the Maiar most skillful with weapons. As such, we modeled our Kinship after him, to imply that we are followers of such a skillful warrior.

About Our Leader - Cortexian

The person that founded the Swords of Eönwë goes by the gamer-tag of “Cortexian” in most games. Originally starting with the Lord of the Rings Online on the Landroval server in early 2007 when it was still in a closed beta.

Enjoying the game, he decided that purchasing a Lifetime Founders Edition subscription would be an excellent investment. This paid off in spades, as he played actively until Siege of Mirkwood was released in 2009. While active he was part of an end-game focused Kinship with several game-first and server-first raid completions.
